About the Marvel license
Marvel was founded in 1939 and became known as Marvel Comics in the 1960s, when Marvel revolutionised the comic book industry with the creation of new superhero characters with relatable human flaws and complex personalities.
Marvel introduced characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and the Avengers during this period. These characters became the cornerstone of the Marvel Universe.
The establishment of Marvel Studios in 1996 and its cinematic universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), in 2008 with the release of Iron Man, marked a significant turning point. The MCU has since become one of the most successful film franchises in history, with interconnected films and characters. The MCU includes characters like Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Black Panther, Thor, Captain America, and the Avengers, and has produced a series of interconnected blockbuster films.
