A Life of Commitment
"I’m Monique, 58 years young," she begins with a warm smile, "and I was born being the youngest of my family with having 2 older brothers." Monique's family values and her role as a mother to two children, Tim and Laura, both starting their own families, have shaped her character and perspective. "A long time ago," she reminisces, "I studied in Leuven for a Bachelor Administration – Modern Languages."
A Journey with Erve
Monique's journey with Erve started nearly four decades ago, precisely on June 26th, 1986, just eight months after the company's inception. Her enduring commitment to Erve reflects her deep connection to the company.
Monique describes Erve as a company that continually looks ahead, always exploring opportunities and avenues for growth—both for its employees and the organization itself. It's this forward-thinking approach that has allowed Erve to thrive for over three decades.
A Day in Monique's World
As for her daily routine, Monique shares, "Well, that is the most important thing for me: I make my planning, plan the cobblestones & priorities for the day - which differs each day... BUT what I also like is that there are a lot of ad hocs popping up in between. You THINK you know how your day will be, but it can end completely different." The unpredictability keeps her engaged and on her toes.
Passion for the Job
Monique's passion for her work shines through as she discusses what she loves most about her role. "I love the synergy between our colleagues at the office in Zaventem & the intercultural connections with our offices in the Far East and agents in Europe," she shares. She also has a deep appreciation for the fashion industry, the satisfaction of completing tasks, and her longstanding history with the company.
Tools of the Trade
With 37 years of experience and various roles under her belt, Monique finds it challenging to pick a specific tool or task she likes the most. However, she emphasizes the importance of working with people, be it customers, colleagues, or international offices. Her ability to prioritize and plan efficiently has been her guiding light.
Favorite Duda
When asked about her favorite Duda, Monique mentions that "positive" is the standout choice but adds, "I would choose 'Ownership' as the second one. Why? Because this Duda is a part of me. Maybe because I was at Erve almost from the beginning, I saw the company expanding (first as the only employee), I’m so involved that I do not experience Erve as my 'job' but as 'part of my life.'"

Monique shares her insights into what it takes to be a successful merchandiser at Erve: "being able to plan according to priorities, having resilience, energy, self-management, decisiveness, accuracy, customer focus, a penchant for teamwork, and enthusiasm."
A Journey Enriched
In her remarkable 37 years with Erve, Monique has had the privilege of traveling to the company's offices in the Far East (China, India), Ethiopia, and agents in Europe (Turkey, Italy). She's had countless opportunities for learning and teaching, attended numerous trainings that highlight Erve's commitment to individual growth, visited a multitude of customers, and been a part of Erve days across the globe. Her journey at Erve is filled with memories, friendships, and experiences that have enriched her life.
